Abstract
1,223,954. Colour television tubes. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. 24 April, 1969 [24 April, 1968], No. 21086/69. Heading HID. In a colour television tube of the shadow mask type, mis-registration of the beam due to thermal expansion of the shadow mask is prevented by moving the deflection yoke further from the screen as the tube warms up. In Fig. 5, the deflection yoke 26 is attached by one or more bimetal strips 58 to a ring member 56 which is adjustably clamped to a slot in a cylindrical support 42 clamped to the neck of the tube at 44. A heater 70 may be provided to supplement the normal heating of the tube but this may be omitted (Fig. 3, not shown). As an alternative the yoke may be moved by a timing mechanism such as an electric clock (Fig. 4, not shown), which is adapted to move the yoke backwards and forwards according to the usual heating and cooling times.
