Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect horizontal vibrations of an ultralow frequency from the horizontal movement of a pendulum, even if shortened in length, by connecting the pendulum composed of a chain and heavy weight suspended vertically to a float floating in a liquid.
CONSTITUTION: This is suitable for the detection of long-period and slight vibration of an extremely-high building in flexible structure; a pendulum consisting of wieght 6 and chain 7 suspending it is suspended at supporting point 9 and the lower end part of weight 6 is fit loosely to hole 5a provided to connection plate 5 connecting floats 4. Therefore, the horizontal movement of weight 6 is restrained by floats 4 and weight 6 moves horizontally together with floats 4. As a result, low-frequency vibrations in any direction on a horizontal surface can be detected by using relatively-short pendulum and this unit for an elevator, for example, can be installed not in its elevation pass but inside of the penthouse of the building.
