Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the job of underwater stud welding easily in all welding forms. Set the ferrule of the gun for underwater stud welding to waterproof construction and set the external cylinder which provides the material with many small cavities on the extreme portion.
CONSTITUTION: Install the external cylinder 2 on the tip of the gun for stud welding 1 and locate the ferrule 6 with the use of the furrule fixing 7 inside the opening by placing a small slot between the stud. Press the gun 1 against the welded surface 3 under water. Turn ON the power through the welding machine 15 and excite the fixed iron core 20 by the current with the use of the coil 19 of the gun 1. Pull up the movable iron core 21 coupled to the stud 8 to generate the arc between the stud 8 and the welding material 3. In this case, press in the gas such as CO2 through the vapor inlet 9 and blow it against the welded portion through the slot between the ferrule 6 and the stud 8 to blow off water. To prevent counter flow, release the vapor in a form of air bubbles continuously through the material 4 made of steel wool, etc. which provides many small cavities. Then, stud welding can easily be made in all directions such as downward, upperward and sideways.
