Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform sound joint welding of stainless steel, by charging metal powder mainly made of stainless steel powder containing specified conponents, and using flux-filled stainless steel wire in TIG welding, without using packing material. CONSTITUTION:The inner gap of a tubular casing of stainless steel having a similar shape as a general wire is filled with metal powder of the following composition, and a flux-filled stainless steel wire is fabricated. Namely, this metal powder contains, by wt% of entire wire, 2-4% of titanium oxide, 0.05-0.5% of potash feldspar, 0.2-0.7% of at least one kind of CaCO3, BaCO3 or Li2CO3, and the remainder of stainless steel powder. In TIG welding of stainless steel using this flux-filled stainless steel wire, packing material is not needed in welding, and it is not necessary to weld the back side again. And, sound, uniform back beads of beautiful appearance may be obtained.
