Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a W/O cream having high water-content, excellent moisture retainability, feeling to the skin, and storage stability, by compounding a fatty acid alkanol amide as an emulsifier and a specific nonionic surface active agent. CONSTITUTION:A W/O cream containing 55-90wt% of water, 6-40wt% of an oil 0.2-2.5wt% of an emulsifier consisting of a fatty acid alkanolamide of formula (R is 6-22C alkyl or alkenyl; A' is CH2CH2OH or CH(OH)CH3; A is H or A'), and 1-7wt% of a polyol fatty acid ester-type nonionic surface active agent such as monooleic acid sorbitol ester. In spite of the high water content, the cream can be stored for a long time without phase inversion or separation of water phase.
