Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a saturation level in a frequency band where demagnetization occurs by making a level comparator compare the recording input of a steer-step waveform reference signal with its regeneration output in terms of state.
CONSTITUTION: A reference signal of frequency (f3) in a band where demagnetization occurs is inputted from signal generator 16 and amplitude-modulated before being recorded on magnetic tape 19. This recorded signal is regenerated soon by regenerating head 20 and inputted via peak detector 22 to level comparator 23, where it is compared with output (f) of analog memory 24. Then, when level (e) of the output of peak detector 22 becomes lower than the level of output (f) of analog memory 24, the output of level comparator 23 is inverted. As a result, the amplitude of the reference signal to be recorded is increased or decreased and the reference signal level when the regeneration output level is the highest is equivalent to the saturation level. In this way, the saturation level in the band where demagnetization occurs can be found.
