Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent electrolyte in an oil dipped battery from leaking externally of a battery case by providing an air liquid separator plug having a filter of silicic acid or active alumina as main component at the opening of a battery case to thereby absorb electrolyte adhered to air bubbles. CONSTITUTION:An opening is provided at the battery case on the upper surface with a container 16 of an air liquid separator plug 15 screwed into the opening. A container cover 22 with a vent hole 21 is provided at the head threads 20 of a container 16 of the plug 15, and an opening 23 is provided at the bottom of the container 16. First and second vent plates 24, 25 are provided in the container 16, and a through hole 26 is perforated at the vent plates. First and second filters 27, 28 are provided between the first and the second vent plates and between the second vent plate and the container cover 22, respectively. The second filter 28 is composed of active alumina or silicic acid powder, particle or fibrous material. When it is powder, it is coated with degreased cotton, filter paper as natural fibrous cloth or synthetic resin net or non-woven fabric.
