Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically determine the center of a hole through push buttons, by calculating the mean values of coordinates or the like through a numerical controller. CONSTITUTION:If a wire 3 is located in a position A, the wire 3 is moved in parallel with an axis X by the numerical controller. When the wire 3 is short-circuited to a machined material 1, a signal is supplied to the numerical controller to stop the wire 3 and store the abscissa X of a position B into a memory. The wire 3 is then moved back to such a position C by the numerical controller that the wire is short-circuited to the machined material. When the wire is in the position C, the numerical controller calculates an average position D. The wire is thereafter moved to the position D. Such steps are repeated to determine the center O of the hole 2.
