Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out the exchange of the fan without discontinuing the device by turning on and off the AC input to the cooling fan via the contact of the mercury relay and then applying the input to the circuit which has nothing to do with the ON/OFF of the device containing the fan incorporated.
CONSTITUTION: The ON/OFF of the AC input is carried out via contact 7 of mercury relay 1a for fan 2 which is incorporated into the device such as the computer to which a high reliability is required. Driving part 8 of relay 1a is turned on and off by the electric circuit within control part 4 of the device and under the control of the program stored in the memory within the device. The program is started by the request given from input/output device 11 or by abnormal signal 12 sent from fan stop detector 10. The power supply to part 4 is given from low voltage source 3. the open/close of the cooling fan is carried out via the contact of the mercury relay free from chattering, thus causing no noise. And the fan exchange is possible without discontinuing the device.
