Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain hollow fibers having improved selective separating property, by extruding an acrylic polymer solution through an annular slit, and by introducing a mixture of a water-soluble solvent and dimethylformamide as a core component into the extruded solution simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: A copolymer consisting of 60wt% or more of acrylonitrile or polyacrylonitrile or both are dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide and/or dimethylacetamide. The solution thus obtained is extruded through an annular slit into a linear solution. A mixture of a water-soluble solvent, which will not dissolve the (co)polymer, and dimethylformamide, which will not contain 30%wt% or more of water, as a core component is introduced into the hollow of the extruded linear solution. The extruded solution containing the solvent is then coagulated in an aqueous bath to replace the core component with the coagulating solution, and washed with water to give the objective hollow fibers.
USE: Ultrafiltration or dialysis membranes.
