Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the crop loss at blooming the steel ingot, and to improve the yield of shearing work, by forming a protuberance at a couple of planes facing to one end of the head and bottom of the steel ingot using the reducing roll at rolling the steel ingot, and hereafter, by reducing the steel ingot from the inverse direction. CONSTITUTION:At early stage of the rolling work for the steel ingot 7, the T-type protuberance 9 with length of extension DELTAL=200-300mm and height of protuberance DELTAH being specified by 0.25DELTAL<=DELTAH<=DELTAL, is formed by the reducing roll 8 in at least a couple of planes facing to at least one end of the head and bottom of the steel ingot 7; hereafter, the reduction is applied to the ingot 7 by the reducing roll 8 from the inverse direction in order to eliminate the protuberance 9.
