Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a gravure printing ink composition having sufficiently high adhesivity to plastic film, metal foil, etc., and moderate drying characteristics, by adding nitrocellulose to the film-forming component.
CONSTITUTION: An ink composition containing a nitrocellulose having a BL viscosity of 20W100 cps at 20°C (viscosity of a solution composed of 20 parts by weight of nitrocellulose dissolved in 80 parts by weight of a mixed solvent consisting of 45 wt% of ethyl acetate, 25 wt% of isopropyl alcohol and 30 wt% of toluene, measured by a Brookfield viscometer). The amount of the nitrocellulose is ≥ 15% of the film-forming component. When the viscosity of the nitrocellulose is higher than 100 cps, the adhesivity is undesirably low, and when it is lower than 20 cps, the mechanical strength of the film is too low to give a tough ink film.
