Abstract
PURPOSE: The high-activation and high-selectivity dehydrogenation of ethlphenol is effected by using stannic oxide as a catalyst to produce vinylphenol.
CONSTITUTION: The dehydrogenation of ethylphenol or its homologs is carried out using (A) stannic oxide and, when necessary, (B) at least one metal oxide selected from (a) a metal tin powder and/or (b) magnesium oxide, chromium (III) oxide, zinc oxide and manganese (IV) oxide as a catalyst, e.g., at 500W600°C to produce the corresponding vinylphenol homologs. The weight ratios of A/a is 0.02W0.4 and atom weight ratio of A/b is 0.05W10.
EFFECT: The high reaction activity of the catalyst is sustained for long periods of time.
