Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of yarn entanglement, splitting, snapping, etc, by bundling many glass fibers drawn from a bushing with a binder and by winding the resulting strand while spraying water droplets to make adhesion of the binder uniform.
CONSTITUTION: Many glass fibers drawn from a bushing are bundled with a binder of starch type, vinyl acetate type or the like to form a strand. When this strand is wound round a tube fixed to a rotaty shaft, water droplets with an average size of 10W1000, pref. about 20W500μ are sprayed upon the strand at a rate of about 300W5000 cc/min.m2 of tube. By this method the binder is adhered uniformly, so insufficient baking in heat cleaning, uneven twisting and uneven impregnation of resin are prevented.
