Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A Crotonylated substituted cyclododecatriene of formulas IWV (R1W3 are H, methyl, butenyl, provided that at least one of R1W3 is not H).
EXAMPLE: Crotonylated trimethylcyclododecatriene.
USE: Perfumes having lasting sandalwood odor. Useful as an ingredient of detergent, shampoo, pomade, cream, deodorant, hand lotion, etc.
PROCESS: The objective compounds IWV are prepared by reacting a substituted cyclododecatriene (e.g. 1,5,9-trimethylcyclododecatriene, etc.) with a crotonylating agent (e.g. crotonic acid anhydride) in the presence of an acid such as ZnCl2.
