A timer 7 is set at a time T0 somewhat longer than a normal elapsed time required for the swtich 3 from the detection of the rear edge of the copying paper 1 to the detection of the leading edge of the succeeding copying paper 8, and genrates a signal to indicate an abnormality when an arrival at the switch 3 of the succeeding copying paper 8 is delayed.
