Abstract

CONSTITUTION: To compensate tape sensitivity prior to recording, signals of 1KHz, etc., is outputted from reference signal generator 12 and recorded. At this time, variable gain circuit 9 and middle-band and high-band recording compensation circuits 10 and 11 are previously given data of a standard tape as a standard control signal by control circuit 20. Next, a regenerated signal, after being detected and figitized, is inputted to operator 18 of computer 21 and compared with reference values in memory 19, so that it will be calculated how many steps the gain of circuit 9 should be adjusted to obtain an aimed regeneration output by compensating the sensitivity of the tape. Then, required control data are recorded on memory 19 and supplied as a control signal to circuit 9 via circuit 20. Next, the same process is performed as to middle and high bands, thereby obtaining the best recording compensation value.
