Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for picking up fabric, which is designed such that vertical movement and grasping movement of card clothing are effected continuously by a single expandable means and direction of the needles constituting a card clothing is changed from each other, whereby it is enabled to achieve positive raising of fabric and tight grasping of the card clothing.
CONSTITUTION: Pick-up apparatus A is fixed, by use of a fixing plate 11, at a position located upwardly of a table on which fabric is stacked. At the lower end of the apparatus A, thereby are provided card clothings 12 which are fixed to finger 13. Needles of these card clothing 12 are tilted slightly from the vertical direction to the surface of fabric toward the outside of apparatus A, and at the same time, one group of needles constituting one card clothing 12 are tilted in opposite direction to that of another group of needles constituting the other card clothing 12. Further, expandable means 21 includes an air cylinder and is fixed to the fixing plate 11. When rod 22 of cylinder 21 is moved downward, a first spring 17 is at first compressed and card clothings 12 are lowered at their opened position until top of the needles comes into contact with fabric 41. As rod 22 is expanded further, finger 13 is turned and card clothings 12 are tilted toward their closed position. Then, with supply of a small amount of air, card clothings 12 are sticked into fabric.
