Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate oxygen and nitrogen from air at a high regeneration efficiency of the catalyst with a small amount of adsorbing agent, by decreasing successively operation press. in multistage adsorption towers connected in series in the direction from the inlet to the outlet so that the adsorption towers are operated at low press.
CONSTITUTION: Towers B, C are being operated in an adsorption stage, towers A, D in a pressurizing stage, and a tower E in a decompressing, desorbing, reflux and regenerating stage. A gas contg. 40W60% oxygen and flowed out of the tower B is decompressed by a decompressing valve or a cold-generating means 2 to a press. 1.0W1.5kg/cm2.abs. and is introduced to the tower C having completed the decompressing, desorbing, reflux and regenerating stage E, where it is recovered as aproduct gas of 70W90% oxygen concn. A gas flowing out of the tower A is introduced into the tower D having completed adsorption stage C while changing oxygen concn. from 40W60% to 21%, pressurizing the tower D to a press. 5.0W6.0kg/cm2.abs. The tower E having completed pressurizing stage A is decompressed so as to be desorbed of adsorbed material, then desorbed of residual adsorbed material so as to regenerate the adsorbing agent.
