Abstract

PURPOSE: To move a torch to the position where the value of the pressure distribution in the weld line crossing direction becomes zero and let the torch trace the weld line by detecting said value.
CONSTITUTION: Compressive gas is beforehand injected from a pressure detector 17 to the work 1. Next, a screw shaft 16 is driven by a motor 15 to let the pressure detector 17 reciprocatively scan so as to cross the groove line 2 between limit switches 18, 19. Then, according to the compared value with the predetermined distance l/2 upto the torch 13, a motor 7 operates to move the torch 13 together with a moving table 8 in the left direction by the differential component thereof, whereby the toch 13 is positioned on the groove line 2.
