Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise treating capability per unit membrane area by flowing the diluting chamber liquid and the concentrating chamber liquid in the horizontal and the same direction in an electric dialyzer in which a diluting chamber and a concentrating chamber are formed inside.
CONSTITUTION: The cation exchange membranes 3 and 3' and anion exchange membranes 4 abd 4' are arranged between the diluting chamber frameworks 1 and 1' and between the concentrating chamber frameworks 2 and 2' through the diluting chamber spacers 5 and 5' and the concentrating chamber spacers 6 and 6', respectively, in such a way that both sides constitute the diluting chamber and the concentrating chamber each of which is partitioned with anion and cation exchange membranes. And, in order to flow a diluting chamber liquid and a concentrating chamber liquid in horizontal and the same direction in these chambers, the notches 7 and 7' and the slots 8 and 8' by which ducts for introducing concentrated liquid into the apparatus are formed are provided in the concentrating chamber frameworks 2 and 2' and also a duct for introducing diluted liquid to the appratus is provided in the diluting chambers 1 and 1'.
