Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish the vibration monitor of on-line type with the use of a simple construction by judging the vibration phenomena on the basis of the position difference in the information which is detected as to the vibration information of an object to be monitored from the respective different positions.
CONSTITUTION: Signals from a structure 1 are guided through amplifiers 2 and 3 into a phase meter 4 to determine the phase difference between the respective measurement points. For example, if the signals of the two points are the same sine waves, the phase difference is determined from the time delay in the two signals. If the signals of the two points have any waveform, the direction of displacement is determined from the polarity of the respective waveforms. Since a discriminator 5 judges the existence of the phase inversion (or the invertion in the displacement direction) between the respective measurement points from the output of the phase meter 4, the shape of a structure and the mounting position of the detector are stored in advance in a display device 6. Then, the vibration mode can be displayed in response to the signals from the discriminator 5. A discriminator 7 judges whether the phase is being inverted or not so that a warning device 8 is operated if any trouble takes place. Thus, the vibrations of the structure as a whole can be monitored in an on-line manner.
