Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a picture which is not influenced by scattered radioactive rays and presents a striking contrast by forming the input part out of a heavy metal honeycomb supporting plate with plural openings and a fluorescent face filled up with fluorescnet material at the openings.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent face 46a as an input part is fitted on the inside of an input window 41 which is fixed to a vacuum and made of radioactive penetrating metallic material. This fluorescent face 46a is composed of a heavy metal material supporing plate 52 which is provided with plural openings 51 divided by partitions 50 and shows honeycomb structure on the whole and a filler layer 53 in the opening of which fluorescent materials such as CsI, etc. are packed. Moreover a photoelectric surface is formed by evaporation on the fluorescent surface 46a. Thus, a sample, that is, scattered radioactive rays from the input window are hardly incided at right angles to the honeycomb supporting plate and are absorbed into the partitions so that the quantity of scattered radioactive rays are reduced and pictures excellent in contrast can be obtained.
