Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit reliable constant speed running to be obtained through negative feedback of a speed difference signal, which controls the throttle valve aperture, through a delay element for superimposition upon a vehicle speed signal in such a manner as to control the vehicle speed of the constant speed running control system to a goal speed.
CONSTITUTION: A voltage proportional to the vehicle speed is obtained in a vehicle speed response voltage generator 1, and error signal is obtained in an error signal generator 20 from the memorized vehicle speed and the actual vehicle speed. A negative feedback circuit 50, which provides compensation to the advancement of the movement of a vacuum actuator 100 for moving a throttle valve 132 for controlling the vehicle speed, i.e., engine output, is constructed such that a vehicle speed correction signal for correcting an excessive increase or decrease of the vehicle speed, as produced from a comparator 41 of a comparator circuit 40, or a signal responsive to the correction signal is fed back through an integrating circuit consisting of a resistor or a capacitor, i.e., a delay element, for superimposition upon the vehicle speed signal. With this arrangement, it is possible to prevent hunting or overshoot or undershoot and obtain steady control of the vehicle speed to a desired goal speed.
