Abstract

PURPOSE: To safely detect the existence of leak and the quantity of leakage by covering a holding container with a recovery hood, which can be moved by a remote operation, so that the leak gases in the recover hood may be fed from a sampling pipe to a radioactive gas detector.
CONSTITUTION: A sampling pipe, which is mounted on a holding container 1 and its fixing support, is covered with a recovery hood 5 which is made movable by a remote operation. The recovery hood 5 has its lower open end 5a fitted in the taper table 4a of a fixed support 4 so that the whole periphery of the container 1 is completely sealed. Thus, the radioactive leak gas from the container 1 is left in the hood 5 so that it is not diluted. Then, an electromagnetic valve 8 of the sampling pipe 7 is opened to suck the gases in the hood 5 by a vacuum pump 9 so that the gases may be analyzed by a radioactive gas detector 10. Thus, the existence of leak and the quantity of leakage can be safely detected highly sensitively.
