Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to generate an output proportional to an angular acceleration by constructing a pickup such that the outputs of two acceleration sensors having the same sensitivity are in the opposite phases and that the respective outputs are connected in parallel.
CONSTITUTION: Letters P1 and P2 indicate annular piezoelectric elements having the same size which have their polarizing directions arranged in parallel but in the opposite directions. Letters M1 and M2 indicate cylindrical mass members which have the same size and weight. Those elements having the same sensitivity are accommodated a in casing so that their outputs are connected in parallel. With this construction, if an acceleration in a Z direction is applied to the center point of the centers of gravity of the mass members M1, and M2, and if an angular acceleration due to the rotational vibrations in the plane including the respective axes of sensitiv ity is applied thereto, the acceleration given in the Z direction is eliminated from the output terminal J so that an output proportional to the angular acceleration is obtained. Thus, it is possible to accurately measure the angular acceleration with the use of a simple construction.
