Abstract
PURPOSE: For precise grain classification unaffected by grain size distribution is conducted in a multiple step classifier in such a manner that a part of nonsediment-including solution in the equipment upstream is moved to the equipment downstream, and the same amount of solvent is added to the first equipment.
CONSTITUTION: In classifying liquid chromatography filler particles, each sedimentation bath 12, 15, 18, 21 is added with solvent in amount of about one third of its content. The first sedimentation bath 12 is added with particles in amount of about one half of its content and agitated with the stirrer 13 for dispersion. After agitation is stopped, the particles are naturally sedimentated. Then, about 3/5 to 1/10 of solvent containing nonsediment gel in the bath 12 is moved to the second sedimentation bath 15, and the same amount of solvent is added to the first bath. The stirrer 16 is energized to disperse the particles in the second bath 15. The sequence of operation is continued to the fourth bath 21, providing highly precise particle classifying.
