Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate in a decanter separation of heavy liquid phase suspended in light liquid phase, the bottom of the container is provided with a mechanism for dispersing mixture, the intermediate part with porous layer for separating heavy and light liquid phase, the top with light liquid discharge line, and the lower part of porous layer with heavy liquid discharge line.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid mixture 8 is injected through the particulating nozzle 1 located at the lower of the decanter and dispersed into droplets. The droplets are passed through perforated plates 2 and current-contacted with salt-containing heavy liquid phase 11 which is circulating. The salt effect reduces mutual liquid solubility to cause the mixture to be separated into two liquid phases. The heavy phase is extracted from the dispersed droplets and united in one phase which is trapped by the main flow of liquid. The light phase droplets removed from the heavy phase are passed through the filler layer 3 forming combined liquid body, and goes to the top. The light liquid level is controlled by the detector 5 that opens and closes the valve 5.
