Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a coating composition having excellent film-forming characteristics, and capable of giving a high-solid low-viscosity paint, by compounding a polyisocyanate with an OH-containing polyester resin obtained by the reaction of an addition compound of dicyclopentadiene and maleic acid with diisobutenylsuccinic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A coating composition composed of (A) an OH-containing polyester resin having a viscosity of 4W100 poise (79W81%/xylol, 25°C), an acid value of ≤20, and a hydroxyl value of 30W300, and obtained by reacting (a) an addition product of dicyclopentadiene and maleic acid (formula I) with (b) diisobutenylsuccinic acid or its anhydride (formula II), wherein the amount of (a) is 3W20 wt% and that of (a)+(b) is 8W82 wt%, and (B) a polyisocyanate, wherein the equivalent ratio of OH/NCO is 0.5/1.5W1.8/0.2.
