Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure printing appropriate in quality and imoroved in rate through processing speed coping with Chinese characters and alphanumeric characters by providing two pairs of printing element groups different in pitch from dot diameter. CONSTITUTION:Printing element unit of a printing head 7 is arranged to comprise two groups: a printing element group 42 coming in 9 printing elements 42a-42i, pitch Pw1 and diameter D1 and another printing element group 43 coming in 18 printing elements 43a-43r, pitch Pw2 and diameter D2, where D2<D1, Pw2< Pw1. Then, wires 42a-42i and 43a-43r are actuated by element driving mechanisms 55, 56 respectively to project from a guide member 48 to printing. In response to signals to identify characters to ptint, in this case, an arrangement is such that the printing element group 43 larger in print density is actuated for Chinese characters and the printing element group 42 for alphanumeric characters. A processing speed coping with Chinese characters and alphanumeric characters to print can thus be secured to ensure appropriate quality and rate for printing.
