Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide assured braking force constantly by ensuring that an automatically adjusted pneumatic pressure is applied to a rotation braking disc brake mechanism for rolled-up paper.
CONSTITUTION: A set tension which urges an arm 14 clockwise is obtained through the functions of a tension setting regulator valve 18 and an air cylinder 15, while the real tension of travelling paper urges a floating roll 11 counterclockwise. The angular position of the arm 14 about a shaft 13 is determined by the balance between the set tension and the real tension. The angular position is transmitted through a normal operation cam 20 formed on the shaft 13, cam follower 21, and rod 22 to a normal operation regulator valve 19 so as to automatically operate the opening of the valve 19. The braking force generated in a disc brake mechanism 6 of a roll-up device 3 is equal to the pneumatic pressure generated through the automatic operation of the opening of the valve 19. This constitution provides an optimal tension for the travelling paper in a rotary press.
