PURPOSE:To effectively compensate beam mislanding especially by detecting the beam mislanding and compensating it with an axiliary deflection means. CONSTITUTION:This beam compensator has the deflection means 15 which detects the mislanding of the color CRT1 and the auxiliary deflection means 18. It controls the auxiliary deflection means 18 based on the output of the deflectin means 15 and compensates the beam mislanding. The deflection means 15 consists of the deflecting fluorescent layer 16 which is provided at the side edge of the fluorescent layer 9 outside the effective screen of color CRT1 and the optical detector 17 which is opposed to the detecting fluorescent layer 16 on the exterior surface of the panel section 14.
