Abstract

PURPOSE:To heighten the cooling efficiency of a brake coil, by integrating a brake yoke with an end bracket which contains an electromagnetic clutch and brake and by providing a prescribed air passage. CONSTITUTION:An air passage is provided to introduce cooling air through a suction hole 39 provided in a motor side, pass the air through a space defined by an end bracket 4A, a brake yoke 8A and a clutch yoke 6A secured on the ribs 21A of the end bracket 4A and exhaust the air through a peripheral opening 20A provided in the end bracket 4A. Another air passage extending from an opening 22A and other openings provided in a brake ring 16A, a clutch ring 14A and a flywheel 2A is conjoined to the former air passage. The end bracket 4A is made of die-cast aluminum of high thermal conductivity. The brake yoke 8A, in which a brake coil 7 is housed, is integrated with the end bracket 4A.
