Abstract

PURPOSE:To check the faulty movement of the plug at every rolling pass, on purpose to contrive the reduction of the line trouble, by installing the metal detector utilizing the high frequency electric current before and behind the plug pack, at applying the rolling work to the inner surface of the seamless pipe. CONSTITUTION:When the rolled pipe T runs out while being supported by the thrust bar 2, the high frequency electric power amplifier 6 supplies the electricity to the signal transmitting coils' terminals 7a, 7b to generate the magnetic field, in order to judge whether the plug 3 is correctly supported in the plug pack 4. Hereby, the signal receiving coils' terminals 8a, 8b detect the induced voltage equivalent to the size of the interposed metal. This induced voltage is amplified and rectified and converted to the DC signal which is input to the input port 14. On the other hand, the DC voltage, from the pilot generator 12 directly connected to the thrust block 1, is input to the input port 14 through the voltage/frequency converter 13. The output of the input port 14 is input to the computer 15 and is compared with the reference pattern; then, the anomaly is displayed on the display unit 17 through the output port 16.
