Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a urethane foam useful for automobile bumpers, etc. without heat-generation during foaming and without scorch, crack, etc. of the foam, by mixing specific polyol and polyisocyanate with a blowing agent, etc. and foaming the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polymer polyol having a hydroxyl value of 20W160 and prepared by grafting 10W30wt%, preferably 10W20wt% of a copolymer of vinyl compounds (e.g. styrene, acrylonitrile, etc.) to a polyether polyol, is mixed with (B) a short chain polyol having a hydroxyl value of 1,000W1,850 (e.g. ethylene glycol), (C) a prepolymer having 20W40wt% of free isocyanate and prepared from (a) an organic polyisocyanate (e.g. toluene diisocyanate) and (b) 2,2'-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane containing 2W7 equivalent of oxypropylene, (D) a reaction catalyst, (E) a blowing agent, (F) a foam stabilizer, etc. and the mixture is foamed.
