Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent clad and other elements, deposited on the bottom of a fuel storage pool at an atomic power plant, from sucked into a cylinder of a multistage hydraulic shock absorber set in the pool at the time of resetting, by setting a one- way valve in the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A multistage hydrualic shock absorber provides shock absorbing effect in the following mechanism: when a cask is suspended above an upper plate 8 at the device in a state of extension, upper and center cylinder 6a, 6b are alowly dropped against springs 16, 16 and liquid in hollow sections 23, 24 is discharged outside through orifices 18, 19. A one-way valve 25 is set to the upper portion in the upper cylinder 6a. As both cylinders 6a, 6b of the shock absorber are reset upward, the one-way vlave 25 is opened to let in water and prevents clad and other elements deposited on the pool bottom from being sucked into the cylinders through the orifices 18, 19, which improves reliability of the shock absorber.
