Abstract

PURPOSE:To make stable the oscillating frequency against temperature change and elapse of time, by discriminating the oscillation frequency with a dielectric resonator and controlling the oscillation frequency with the discriminated output, in a microwave oscillator using a three-terminal active element as an oscillation element. CONSTITUTION:Impedance elements 8, 9 and a load 10 are formed with microstrip lines 2, 3, 4 connected to a GaAs-FET1, and a series feedback circuit 11 is constituted with them, and resonance is made at the frequency f0. Dielectric resonators 15, 16 for frequency discrimination are coarsely coupled between lines 5 and 13 and lines 5 and 14, and the resonance frequencies have the relation of f1<f0<f2, and DC outputs VD1, VD2 are output at terminals 18, 20 according to the resonance characteristics. They are input to an operational amplifier 25, the synthesized output is fed to the gate electrode of the GaAs-FET1 to control the oscillation frequency to maintain it at f0 at all times.
