Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the economical production of the deformed composite wire of intricate shapes with less number of labor by inserting a fusible metal wire of hardness lower than a noble metal fine tube into said fine tube by maintaining a clearance and subjecting this composite wire material directly to drawing and rolling.
CONSTITUTION: A fusible metal wire (example; copper wire) of hardness lower than that of a fine tube of noble metals (example; gold) is inserted as a core metal in said fine tube by maintaining a clearance. In this case, it is desirable that the hardness of the core material is 40W60% of the surface material. A desirable clearance between the surface material and core material may be maintained by making the outside diameter of the core material 60W70% of the inside diameter of the surface material when the inside diameter of the surface material is 3W5mm and 55W65% of the inside diameter of the surface material when the inside diameter of the surface material is 3mm or less. Thence, this composite wire material is subjected to plastic working of drawing and rolling without undergoing heat treatment, whereby, for example, intricate deformed composite wire may be readily manufactured.
