Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid overcharging even when the charging amount is less by a procedure in which the specific gravity of electrolyte is continuously converted into voltage and then the voltage is compared with standard voltage and the charging method is switched to equalized charging or floating charging. CONSTITUTION:In case where the commericial AC power source AC is normal, the voltage obtained by converting the specific gravity of the electrolyte of the storage battery BT, detected by the hydrometer HY, by means of the specific gravity-voltage converter SVC is higher than the standard voltage set up for the reversing point voltage of the stroage battery by the standard power source Es because of the high specific gravity of the electrolyte. Accordingly, output from the comparator Co is sent out and the contact A is closed and the contact is opened. Then, the output voltage of the relay REF is detected by the first output setter VR1 and the storage battery BT is charged. In case where the commercial power source AC is restored from serivice interruption, the storage battery is discharged and the specific gravity of the electrolyte is lowered and the voltage is lowred than the standard voltage, whereupon the contact B of the relay is closed, the contact A is opened, and the storage battery BT is charged by an equalized charging mode.
