Abstract

PURPOSE: To present a dyke to act as both for drift ice interceptor and breakwater capable of wave cancellation and utilization as fish-gathering place, etc., as well as enabling sure interceptor against surging drift ice alone, without hindering the natural environment such as tide flow indispensable for raising fishery product including seaweeds.
CONSTITUTION: An example of installation method of the title dyke is; on the upper part of the base frame bodies 1, dyke bodies 2 are established consecutively or intermittently. Base frame body 1 is formed of plain concrete or iron material with cross section rigid enough to stand as base frames, on the top thereof flat plate 1' is attached, while dyke body 2 is formed of the same material as of the base body 1 with its sectional shape almost triangle. At the front face, i.e. the ocean side of the dyke bodies, members 3, acting for ice breaking and wave cancellation, and are demountable, are established with appropriate intervals. At their back side, i.e. the land side, a plurality of buoyant bodies 5 connected each other are established to form drift ice dyke 4 constituting area to arrest drift ice pieces, while drift ice catcher net 7 is hung thereunder with weight 8 provided.
