Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain residual pressure without using a residual pressure valve, by opening a return port to connect a liquid pressure chamber to a reservoir, only while a backward force applied to an auxiliary piston is stronger than a forward force in a brake releasing process.
CONSTITUTION: When a piston 5 is pushed in braking, a residual pressure spring 10 is compressed and comes into contact with an auxiliary piston 7. The spring is then moved forth together with a cup seal 12 to cause braking oil pressure. When the braking force is removed, pistons 5, 7 etc. are moved back by the residual pressure spring 10 and a restoring spring 14 and the piston 5 is stopped by a stopper 6. At that time, negative pressure is caused in a liquid pressure chamber 13 to introduce a liquid into it from a reservoir 3 through a port 15 etc. When liquid pressure from a wheel cylinder is restored, high pressure is caused in the chamber 13. At that time, the cup seal 12 is returned to the original position beyond a return port 20 by the residual pressure spring 10 to retain residual pressure in the chamber 13.
