Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove noise occurred in the photoelectric converter and a dark current also occurred therein by differentiating the output from a line sensor at non- lighting time and the output from a line sensor at lighting time. CONSTITUTION:When a light source 6 irradiates a pulse light, a real image is formed on a line sensor with the reflected light 10 on an article 1 to be read. A sensor 12 stores the charge meeting the pattern received via the light. When the pulse light is erased from the light source 6, the charge stored on the sensor 12 is emitted. The signal thus emitted is amplified via a signal amplifier 13. This signal consists of a photoconverting signal and dark current. The output signal when the light source 6 is not energized is only the dark current. Accordingly, the signal at this time is sampled to hold it in a sample holding circuit 14. Thus, the signal component retained at the circuit 14 from the signal at the time of lighting at the light source is differentiated by a differential amplifier 15 to retain only the photoelectric conversion signal so as to obtain a pattern signal containing less noise.
