Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head excellent in reproduction sensitivity and used for both recording and reproduction, by composing a core, on the incoming side of a recording medium, of the 1st core closer to the recording medium and constituting a narrower magnetic gap and the 2nd core further from the recording medium and constituting a wider magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head, provided with a difference in level at a core on the incoming side of recording medium 1 while relation Gr<Gw is born between interval of the 1st magnetic gap 4 closer to recording medium 1 and interval Gw of the 2nd magnetic gap 5 further from recording medium 1, has the incoming-side core consisting of the 1st core 7 constituting the 1st magnetic gap 4 and the 2nd core 8 constituting the 2nd magnetic gap 5. Consequently, it is made possible to saturate the 1st core 7 constituting the 1st magnetic gap 4 with a small bias magnetic field and even when the 1st core 7 is saturated, the 2nd core 8 can be made to remain unsaturated, so that the generation of nonlinear distortion can be reduced.
