Abstract

PURPOSE:To economically recover a fuel from a waste tire, by the pyrolysis and complete combustion of the tire which is introduced, as such without being cut or broken, into a vertical internal-heating furnace, and by the separation of a residural steel cord. CONSTITUTION:Waste tire 11 is introduced as such, without being cut or broken, into inlet 13 at the top of furnace 12. As it travels down, it is pyrolyzed in pyrolysis zone 17, with a rising high-temperature gas produced by the partial combustion of the tire or by the combustion of an external fuel, and discharged, as a pyrolysis gas produced 18, from outlet 19, and then recovered as a gaseous fuel or a fuel oil which is liquefied by partial condensation. Thus the waste tire goes down through the furnace during gradual pyrolysis and reaches grate 20 in the botton of pyrolysis zone 17. The residual steel cord 21 is supported on grate 20 and residual combustible components 22 drop to combustion zone 23 through grate 20.
