Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover a gas contg. CO2 at high concn. as by-produced waste gas when limestone is calcined, by isolating a furnace from the open air and burning fuel with oxygen diluted with CO2.
CONSTITUTION: Limestone charged with a feeder 7 is dropped into a calcining furnace 4 through a storage tank 18-5, a replacing bottle 8 and the preheating section 6, and it is calcined and decomposed. The resulting quick lime is discharged into a product bottle 12 through a discharger 9 and a cooler 10. In said method, the whole furnace is isolated from the open air, fuel, oxygen and CO2 for diluting the oxygen are fed to the combustion chamber 3 provided with a burner 17 from pipes 1, 2, 13, respectively, and by heat of combustion the limestone is decomposed. By-produced CO2 is allowed to rise in the furnace 4, taken out of the outlet pipe 5 of the section 6, and passed through a dust collector 14. Most of the CO2 is fed to a CO2 liquefaction purifier 20, and part of it is fed to the chamber 3 through a storage tank 21 and the pipe 13.
