Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the possibility of character discrimination without increase in the line buffer capacity even with inferior paper-feed position accuracy, by read-in processing with the different read-in condition from the read-in already, after back feed of the paper for character reader.

CONSTITUTION: The motor control circuit 21 turns the motor 13 and feeds the document 10 by one line, and the output data of the quantization processing circuit 18 is written in the line buffer 19 over one line. If this stored data is disable for character recognition, the output of the recognition control section 20 is given to the motor control circuit 21 as the re-read-in instruction, the document 10 is fed backward by one line and after that, it is again fed forward by one line. At the same time, the motor control circuit 21 quantizes the re-read-in data of the image sensor 15 against the quantized level change-over instruction for the quantization pre- processing circuit 18 in the different level as the quantized level at first read-in to write in it in the line buffer 19.
