Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the stable measurement of the low speed electrons released from the object sample placed in the atmosphere in the said atmosphere by using two grid electrodes and changing the potentials of these grid electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: In a housing 11 which is open at one end and is formed with cathode, an anode 1 and the 1st grid electrode 12 as well as as the 2nd grid electrode 13 between the said grid electrode 12 and cathode are disposed. A pulse generator 14 is provided between the grid electrodes 12, 13 and anode 1. The pulse generator 14 is formed by a quenching circuit 15 and cation neutralizing circuit 16. When the low speed electrons released from a sample 18 which is placed in the open part of the housing 11 or is placed outside the housing 11 and exists in the atmosphere arrive at the anode 1, the electric potentials of the grid electrodes 12, 13 change for a fixed time in response to this, whereby the cation, etc. are neutralized.
