Abstract

PURPOSE: The fixation of enzymes, or cells of microorganisms, or their processed products are fixed on a prepolymer that is soluble in inert organic solvents inmiscible with water is conducted in the solvent, thus producing fixed enzymes that can be used in an organic solvent with advantage.
CONSTITUTION: An solution of the prepolymer in an organic solvent and a dispersion of an enzyme material, as enzyme itself, cells of bacteria, or their processed product, are mixed in the presence of a surface active agent, then the prepolymer is polymerized or cured, whereby the enzyme material is fixed. The prepolymer is required to be curable by irradiation of active rays below 60°C. Thus, the enzyme material can be fixed on a lipophilic resin carrier with no deactivation.
EFFECT: The resulting enzyme material increases the yield of enzyme reaction. Further, since the density is high, the material does not float on the reaction system, thus permitting continuous operation. This product cab be used to synthesize food additives, drugs, etc.
