Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A hydrazone compound of formula I (R is methyl, phenyl, or benzyl).
USE: A photo-sensitive material for electro-photography. High rate of charge decay in light, high photo-sensitivity, excellent mechanical strength and processability. It can be used together with a material which generates a charge carrier rapidly by light absorption (charge-generating material), and by this combination, it exhibits excellent photo-sensitivity.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by reacting 9-ethylcarbazole of formula II with 1-substituted phenylhydrazine of formula III.
