Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize the lowering of coding efficiency by removing a dummy code component, equivalent to the sum of the number of control code bits and that of error code bits, from a dummy code before framing. CONSTITUTION:Minimum code-length indicating circuit 9 outputs minimum code length X to comparing circuit 11. Code-length counter 10, cleared at an error detection code transmission start, starts counting the number of codes output to a transmission line. Its count value is denoted as Y. Circuit 11 outputs logic ''1'' to signal line 12 when X>Y or to signal line 13 when X<=Y. When a coder outputs a coding end signal with signal line 12 held at logic ''1'', the output dummy code transmission permit signal of AND circuit 14 is output to a dummy code generating circuit to start the transmission of a dummy code.
